By We’re barely a week out from the announcement of an animated Witcher film and Netflix is already talking details. In an update on the official Netflix listing for Nightmare of the Wolf, the synopsis reads that this new animated film will focus on the tale of Vesemir. For those unaware, Vesemir is Geralt’s mentor and the reason he even became a Witcher in the first place. This film is likely a way to explore some backstory without bogging down the second season of the show.
If you check the main site now, this synopsis has been removed. Thankfully, some fans on Twitter have captured the description before it disappeared. I guess showrunners Lauren S. Hissrich and Beau DeMayo have decided upon where they’ll be taking this series moving forward. It will certainly help give a more dramatic edge to the next slate of episodes.
There were some rumblings a few years ago about Mark Hamill potentially being cast as Vesemir. While nothing is confirmed, the man did state he’d be down for it. What better way to get him involved than with an animated film? His voice work is always excellent.
