In an exclusive interview with Slashfilm, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones writer/director Christopher Landon talked about where he wants the franchise to go from here. “There is a very specific end goal and I’m hoping we have enough time in the franchise to get there,” said Landon.
According to Slashfilm writer Germain Lussier, “the series’ overall mythology is expanded and changed significantly near the end [of The Marked Ones], which is likely to leave audiences guessing as to what’s coming next.” I can’t corroborate this either way, since I haven’t seen the film — partially because of this blizzard — but I can believe it. The Paranormal Activity franchise has been getting crazier with each installment (except for Paranormal Activity 4, apparently).
This was intentional on the part of the Paranormal Activity team, according to Landon. “We’re trying to tee up things that are coming, especially in [Paranormal Activity] 5.” After reading this, I want to give The Marked Ones a shot. Hope it can outdo the insanity we saw in the 3rd installment.
Slashfilm’s full interview will run sometime this week.
