Things to get Paranormal again this October

[UPDATE: Well, it seems that news came quickly. Turns out Catfish directors, Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman have signed on once again to tackle another Paranormal Activity. Joost and Schulman directed the third entry, and while I still have not seen it, I can imagine what it might be like considering Catfish was one of the single most creepy quazi-documentaries I’ve ever seen.]

I promise I’m not going to spoil anything in this post. I haven’t even seen the third Paranormal Activity yet. The intent here is to merely inform you that there is another Paranormal Activity coming; the fourth in the series. I don’t really know where they’re going to go from here. I mean, the 2nd movie was like a sequel, then the 3rd movie was a prequel… so what now? A sequel to the prequel? A prequel to the prequel? A prequel to the sequel to the original? Oh, wait, that’s the first movie… Hm… Maybe it will be different people all together this time around. See? I don’t even know if the third one ends in a way that leaves it open for a sequel.

That all being said, neither a director nor a writer for the film has as yet been announced… and yet Paramount is certain that the movie will hit theaters October 19th. Those are some brass balls you got there, Paramount. Though I guess these films aren’t particularly hard to orchestrate. Ya know, I don’t know where this focus of trying to be the next Lionsgate comes from. Why does Paranormal Activity have to be the next Saw franchise? Because money? Well, isn’t there any room for artistic integrity anymore? I feel as though sequels nowadays are less of an opportunity to expand on an existing universe and more just a quick way to make a buck… Oh wait, that’s how it’s always been.
