In spite of the destination, Freeform, not Netflix (or even ABC), Cloak & Dagger‘s trailer delivers a convincing premiere. No dialogue, shot creatively and compellingly, this promises … well, promise. Loads of promise. This could be the Dawson’s Creek of superhero shows. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer of Marvel. The OC of mutants!
In the world of comics, Cloak and Dagger have been around since March of 1982, first appearing in Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #64. Their powers are a bit more amorphous and subsequently harder to describe than a metal suit, adamantium claws, or a magic hammer. So I won’t try. But they’re young. They’re hip. They like vigilantism and don’t like drugs. Oh, and they’ve reversed the young Black man being the delinquent and the privileged white girl being just that, so it is displaying at least mild social awareness in its early presence. Good.
Cloak & Dagger will premiere with a two-hour event on June 7, 2018, on Freeform (I have no idea which channel this is either).
