With production on Skyfall well underway, the past few days have been pretty heavy with news about the new Bond movie. The official website was updated with a synopsis and production video, and Ralph Fiennes revealed a detail about his mysterious character, sparking all sorts of rumours.
The latest tidbit revolves around the movie’s new composer: with series regular David Arnold busy with the 2012 Olympics, director Sam Mendes has called on his longtime musical collaborator, Thomas Newman, to provide the score. Despite never having composed for a blockbuster action movie before – The Debt, Adjustment Bureau or Mendes’ own Road To Perdition come closest – Newman is another experienced hand on the Skyfall team, with a career spanning three decades and bringing ten Oscar nominations, three Grammy wins and a BAFTA.
