After much waiting and speculating about when this trailer would drop, the rumors were correct, and fans got an Easter treat. Thor: Love and Thunder’s first trailer was finally revealed today. Yes, it was worth the wait.
Set to an excellent soundtrack which Guardians of the Galaxy is known for (fitting since they are in the film), Thor’s character is finally getting a chance to get happy again following Endgame. Sadly, CGI must still be in the works with no reveal yet for Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. Besides the trailer drop, we also got a sick poster reveal that gives off He-Man meets album cover vibes (Thanks to Flixist’s own John Morey for that description)
The official synopsis from Marvel:
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey, unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
With Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse of Madness mere weeks away, Moon Knight wrapping up soon, and Thor: Love and Thunder, we are in for an exciting couple of months.
Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8.
