Did you check out the last installment of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the big screen. Remember it was digitally animated and called TMNT? I actually kind of dug it, but it didn’t reignite the franchise on screen like it was supposed to and the writes moved along to Platinum Dunes and Paramount, who finally seem to be making some progress with getting a revamped Turtles to the screen by bringing on Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec on board to write.
Applebaum and Nemec just finished revamping Mission: Impossible for Jeremy Rener and now it seems they get a chance at a second major franchise. There’s no word on how Platinum Dunes, mostly known for horror films, will want to revamp the series or if they’ll be animating or doing live action. In fact there’s no real details at all. /Film does point out that a previous script was created by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway for the franchise and that it is highly likely that Applebaum and Nemec have been brought it to rework it.
Hopefully the two screenwriters will read this post and realize that the film should be live action and dark and gritty like the first live action Turtles film. Seriously, go back and watch that movie. It is really good.
