Tom Cruise will defy gravity in a new movie that will film in outer space

Tom Cruise is a man known for pushing the boundaries of safety, but his next stunt is likely to put all of his previous ones to shame. In a new report from Deadline, it appears that the famous (and possibly insane) star is in talks with both NASA and Elon Musk’s Space X program to potentially film a movie in outer space. That’s not some elaborate joke, either.

Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time Cruise has flirted with the idea of leaving Earth’s orbit to create a film. In an interview with Empire back in 2018, director James Cameron spoke about how he and Cruise were plotting some kind of outer space film together. “I actually talked to [Cruise] about doing a space film in space, about 15 years ago,” Cameron recalled. “I had a contract with the Russians in 2000 to go to the International Space Station and shoot a high-end 3D documentary there. And I thought, ‘Shit, man, we should just make a feature.'”

It’s been a running joke that each new Mission: Impossible film will see Cruise continually pushing the boundaries, so what else is left after leaving orbit? Will Cruise announce his final film and literally die in it? That would be one hell of a stunt, at the very least.
