Tom Hardy gets inside the mind of Elmer Fudd

No, not really. But he may be playing a hunter. The Playlist reports that hearty Hardy is in talks to play the male lead in Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman. One of several fairy tale inspired films being developed at the moment, Huntsman would start with the traditional plotline–Snow White’s evil stepmother orders a hunter to kill the beautiful maiden, but the man helps Snowy fake her death instead–and turn it into an action-romance. Instead of finding seven dwarves, this lucky lady will find that Hardy the Huntsman is so enamoured with her that he wants to help her escape the queen and teach her to fight back.

Universal reportedly wants Angelina Jolie to bring the bitchy as Snow White’s stepmother Ravenna, though her rumoured involvement in Tim Burton’s Maleficent (the coolest of the Evil Queen category, in my opinion) points to her doing only one or the other. Besides the development of two additional Snow White adaptations, the fairy tale trend continues to gain ground (take that comic zombie vampires!) with news that Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Killer has been given the greenlight. In addition, the similarly titled Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is baffling the Web with its odd coupling of super serious actors Jeremy Renner and Noomi Rapace (the Swede with the Dragon Tattoo), with producer-and-Will-Ferrel's-boy, Adam McKay. Let's hope we can all look forward to more live action fairy tales like this, and less of this.
