Bong Joon-ho’s Snowpiercer will be out next week in South Korea, and here’s the final trailer for the film (at least until it goes international). Everything’s looking wonderfully intense and apocalyptic. Given, it’s shorter and not quite as large in scope as the previous Snowpiercer trailer. Here’s a synopsis:
In a future where a failed global-warming experiment kills off most life on the planet, a class system evolves aboard the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe via a perpetual-motion engine.
The film is an adaptation of the French comic Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette. (Of course it’s a French comic: high-concept sci-fi melded with notions of class struggle and revolution.)
Snowpiercer hits South Korean theaters in the face with an axe on August 1st. We’ll keep you posted on international release info. After the cut we’ve included an animated prequel to Snowpiercer that explains how the world got into its sorry, post-apocalyptic state.
