Woody Allen’s new film, Blue Jasmine, is going into character study territory. The film stars Cate Blanchett’s as Jasmine, a woman experiencing a personal crisis/meltdown. Once a chic New Yorker, she’s now in San Francisco reconnecting with her sister and probably taking advantage of her kindness as well. (My brother saw Woody Allen shooting in SF last year somewhere in The Mission.) The film also stars Alec Baldwin, Louis CK, Andrew Dice Clay, Sally Hawkins, and Peter Sarsgaard.
Allen said the following about the film:
Jasmine is in freefall and has to leave behind everything she knows and has expected. She’s entering the realm of absolute unknown, moving from one coast to the other, from one social set to the other, one class to another.
In the gallery are some images from the film. Blue Jasmine will be out on July 26th.
