I hate gimmicky movies. The trailer for Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star just reeks of the typical Happy Madison film, just starring Nick Swardson instead of Rob Schneider. Swardson, admittedly, is a step up from Schneider, but not by much. His stand-up is pretty funny, but I hate the movie roles he gets. Don’t even get me started on Grandma’s Boy (an unfortunate sleeper hit amongst some of the Flixist staff).
Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star is about a Midwestern kid, Bucky Larson (Swardson), who discovers his parents were porn stars. Driven by this revelation, he moves to Hollywood to follow in their footsteps. *yawn* Of course, he’s a typical geeky outcast with buck teeth (Bucky, get it?), stupid hair, and full of innocent naivete. Given director Tom Brady’s history (The Hot Chick, The Animal, The Comebacks), this movie is just destined for failure.
You can catch this “comedy” in theaters September 9th.
