Diablo Cody is a divisive screenwriter. She’s always had films that you either love or hate (like Juno, Young Adult, or Jennifer’s Body) thanks to her quickfire pop culture infused dialogue. I like her work, so I can’t wait for her directorial debut film, Paradise.
Paradise stars Julianne Hough as a girl who’s recently lost her faith due to a plane crash and travels to Las Vegas to live wild and free. Then she meets Octavia Spencer and Russell Brand and then gets into shenanigans. It looks like a charming little ditty that won’t harm anyone. And that’s just fine. I’ll be seeing the film for Nick Offerman, who loses his now trademark stache for the film. He’s so odd looking now. Theaters get two tickets to Paradise October 18th, but it’ll be on DirectTV VOD August 8th.
