Regardless of how you felt toward Spike Lee’s kickstarter campaign last year, the “Hottest Newest Spike Lee Joint” is almost out, sho nuff. A remake of Ganja and Hess, Da Sweet Blood of Jesus follows Dr. Hess Green, a man with a taste for blood after the death of a former colleague. That colleague’s wife Ganja then finds him and the two fall in love.
I’m not a fan of Spike Lee’s films, but I do admit that he’s always interesting visually. That’s the case here as the trailer is packed to the brim with striking shots. But, I don’t feel compelled to watch the whole thing. Da Sweet Blood of Jesus releases February 13th.
