Trailer: Frankenweenie

Frankenweenie is Tim Burton’s…fifth last chance from me? Something like that. The man’s oeuvre hasn’t exactly been stellar for the past fifteen years, so the dude’s got a lot of goodwill to reclaim from me. Every single thing I’ve seen out of Frankenweenie, this trailer included, is helping to rectify the problems. It’s actually got his weird old art style, not the Hot Topic nonsense he seemed to become obsessed with post-Big Fish. Unfortunately, this is one of those “let’s show the entire movie in the trailer so you don’t have to see it yourself” kind of deals. They lay out pretty plainly how the movie is going to diverge from the original short, and I’m not 100% on board with it, but there’s so much happening there that I enjoy that I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt.

This is your last chance, Burton. Don’t screw this one up.
