While I had some issues with Can Evernol’s Baskin, I was still impressed by its style and its gruesome, unrelenting horror. It reminded me of an Italian horror movie by way of Clive Barker.
Evernol’s latest film, Housewife, looks like it builds on the strengths of his previous feature. A trailer has been available online for a few weeks, but it’s just now come to my attention. For fans of classic Dario Argento and the work of Italian horror maestro Mario Bava, this looks like a can’t miss.
Check out the trailer for Housewife below.
My, how disgustingly beautiful that looks.
Here’s an official synopsis for Housewife:
Holly’s childhood was a nightmare. At age 7, she watched her mother kill her sister and father. Twenty years later, Holly’s dreams remain plagued by that painful memory. An unexpected reunion with an old friend further complicates matters, introducing Holly to a strange cult-like group that follows a celebrity psychic, one who takes a special liking to Holly. And because of him, her worst nightmares become shockingly real.
Housewife is the opening night film at the second annual Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. Flixist hopes to be in attendance, so check back for next month for a review.
