By Alternate history narratives tend to be really absurd and out there. Iron Sky has no problem sticking true to this tradition. The general synopsis is this: There are Nazis who escaped World War II by flying into space. They plan on returning to Earth to accomplish what is known as a “meteorblitzkrieg.”
If the Nazis are coming from space, it makes you wonder what kind of weaponry the Earthlings have. Regardless, when it comes to alternate histories, especially alternate World War II narratives, nobody can do it better than Philip K. Dick and his novel, The Man in the High Castle.
Iron Sky will be out in theaters April 4, 2012, but a sneak peek is screening at the Cannes Film Festival.
