Like Father, Like Son is an intense-looking family drama from Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda. The story centers on a young family who realize that their son was accidentally switched at birth with another boy, and the following emotionally complicated steps that they take to have the children switch families to their birth parents.
As I have previously mentioned, adoption’s kind of a big thing in my family, so I personally find the complex intricacies of the presupposed biological necessities for love, and it’s implications for identity, to be very important and interesting ideas. Like Father, Like Son will be touring American film festivals this fall (like the New York Film Festival, where the lovely Hubert Vigilla has seen and reviewed it) and will have a theatrical release in the UK on October 18th, 2013.
