Miss Bala looks terrifying and awesome. Taking place in modern Mexico, the movie follows Laura, played by Stephanie Sigman, on her tortuous journey to be crowned Miss Baja California while simultaneously being a pawn for local drug cartels.
That uncomfortable juxtaposition of beauty and abuse encapsulates a lot of certain parts of Mexico right now, so it would seem like Miss Bala would be one to look out for.
