Finally, the first trailer for On the Road has been released. The trailer sums up the premise of the film: After meeting Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hundlund), Sal Paradise (Sam Riley) embarks on an adventure full of sex, drugs, and jazz. Rounding out the cast are Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, and Viggo Mortensen.
Really, I can’t wait to see how it turns out. Like many other kids my age, both in current and past generations, I’ve been heavily influenced by On the Road. With Walter Salles at the helm, I have relatively high hopes for how it’ll turn out. The trailer itself feels true to the book’s tone, with the only glaring change is Riley’s voice not matching up to Sal’s/Kerouac’s very distinctive accent. Of course, I’m just nitpicking.
On the Road will be in theaters later this year after opening this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
