ParaNorman follows a young boy who can talk to the dead as he tries to save his town from a monster invasion. Now, that’s a pretty cool concept on its own, but add in the fact that it’s a stop motion animation from the makers of Coraline and oh god why isn’t it 2012 yet.
I always love stop motion, and big-budget stop motion is fantastic. My favorite part of Coraline was seeing the subtle thumb marks on the puppets when they moved. They were pretty infrequent, but when the animation is that smooth, it’s so impressive to have that reminder that it’s still stop motion. I mean, look at this trailer! How do they even do that?
