Did Kevin Smith go and reinvent himself in between Twitter rants?

The trailer for his upcoming horror movie, featuring a murderous Fred Phelps stand-in, doesn’t show much, but it’s atmospheric and creepy. Granted, a voiceover talking about Jesus on top of a lot of quick cuts of people looking miserable can do that fairly well. That said, I can’t believe I’m actually excited for a new Kevin Smith movie again! What is this, 1999?

What do you guys think? Is this Kevin Smith’s second coming?
