The trailer for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, the latest entry in the new franchise directed by Guy Ritchie, has finally released, and you can watch it over at Apple Trailers. It looks like Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law will continue to bring it as Holmes and Watson, and Jared Harris seems dripping with intelligent British malevolence as nemesis Moriarty. Noomi Rapace is also in it, if only just.
I’m not enthused for this at all, really. It’s become impossible for me to care about this series after the BBC remake/modernization Sherlock (which is available on Netflix Instant) has effectively outperformed the first movie in every imaginable category, save that it’s not set in the original time period. This film looks to be much of the same from the first one: a lot of kinetic action that’s basically out of place in a Sherlock Holmes movie and awesome chemistry between Holmes and Watson.
