The theme is “This sucks.” Rod Lurie seems to have taken the intense, controversial Sam Peckinpah original and turned it into a thriller. JUST a thriller. I’m sure at some point, James Marsden’s glasses will break, and there will be a closeup mirroring the original film’s poster, and someone’s going to see that and think, “Oh, it’s about time they bothered to care about the original film. That person will be me. Then I will hang myself.
I know it’s passe at this point to rail against pointless, toothless remakes, but f*ck pointless, toothless remakes.
