Tai Chi 0 looks like it combines several things I enjoy. It’s a steampunk fantasy martial arts film from the makers of Ip Man and Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame. Directed by Stephen Fung (House of Fury), produced by Jet Li, and featuring action direction by Sammo Hung, Tai Chi 0 was shot back-to-back with its sequel, Tai Chi Hero.
Ah yes, I see what they did there.
Perhaps what’s most surprising is that Tai Chi 0 is coming out in the United States in October. That’s less than a month after its September 27th debut in Hong Kong. For comparison, the Tsui Hark/Jet Li film The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate (one of the highest grossing Chinese movies of all time) is finally coming out stateside nine months after its overseas release.
Tai Chi 0 hits American theaters on October 19th. Tai Chi Hero is supposedly gearing for an October release in China, but so far there’s no word on when it would arrive in the US.
