Liam Neeson doesn’t take kindly to people who don’t watch Taken 2 trailers, and says so himself in his introduction to this latest one. It’s a wonderfully silly touch, and hopefully signals that the previous movie’s (very) dark sense of humour will be kept intact for this second undertaking. Either way, it’s looking great fun, with Neeson in full grumbly avenger form and expanded roles for Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen. Fingers crossed for a sex emperor at some point too.
I like how the villains of this movie are the family of those killed last time around, making a neat parallel with Bryan Mills’ own use of that particular set of skills to defend his wife and daughter. It’s not like anyone’s going to see this for the meaningful narrative, though: most importantly, there’s a whole of taking going on, and action by the metric tonnage. Check after the jump for the ‘missing’ scene Neeson mentions, involving an innovative use for a grenade. It’s out on October 5th in the US. Go and see it, or Neeson will find you.
