By It looks like Stephanie Meyer was tired of writing Twilight and wanted to try something new. By “try something new,” I mean “combine V and Animorphs and hope nobody notices.” The Host takes place in what I guess is a not-so-distant future where a race of parasitic creatures is quickly taking over the planet and nobody really notices except for a select few who try to stop them.
It’s territory that’s been visited before, and I don’t have faith that Stephanie Meyer will be able to do something new and interesting with it. It looks like she’s trying to go for a perfect-world-is-not-as-perfect-as-it-seems-and-an-imperfect-world-is-awesome thing, given the creepy blue eyes on everyone. How original, Stephanie Meyer.
