Tiger Eyes, the very first Judy Blume (best known for Superfudge) book to get an adaptation, is about a young girl named Davey whose mother had relocated them to New Mexico after the death of her father. After feeling lost for awhile, she meets Wolf (a Native American teen) then falls in love and learns about herself.
While this seems like most slice of life movies, Blume’s books have always been the most poignant when tackling character growth. Although I’ve never read Tiger Eyes, if it’s as good as Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret., sign me up. Also seeing Amy Jo Johnson again (who once played Kimberly on Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and did a short run on Felicity) certainly helps. Tiger Eyes hits theaters and VOD June 7th.
