The first trailer I saw for Vanishing Waves (aka Aurora) was way back in May on Quiet Earth. This Lithuanian film directed by Kristina Buozyte intrigued me since it looked like a visually-interesting art house work that melded eroticism and science fiction; kind of like a mash-up of Solaris, The Cell, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind directed by cult filmmaker Andrzej Zulawski.
This new trailer for Vanishing Waves (which is not safe for work) has definitely kept my interest going. Here’s a synopsis:
Have you ever dreamed of being inside the head of another person — a beloved one or your rival ? Have you ever wished to experience the ideal relationship, where two minds come into total fusion? Following a scientific experiment based on the neural transfer, a young inhibited man will experience an astonishing journey in the mind of an anonymous comatose woman. This contemporary tale explores the nature of desire by exposing links and contradictions between the human body and the mind.
Vanishing Waves received high honors and praise at Fantastic Fest, Stiges, and Lund this year. The film will hit US theaters some time in 2013.
