Faster than Tony Jaa's fists

Well Go USA Entertainment has announced that the star-studded, kung fu team-up film Triple Threat will be heading to US theaters for one night only on March 19, 2019. Featuring the likes of Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, and Tiger Chen, this film is poised to be an absolute blast and a must-see for fans of martial arts cinema. The film will be showing at 150 screens, though no specific locations were mentioned. Following the one night event, Triple Threat will be coming to various video-on-demand services on March 22 (and some select theaters).

Ever since I saw Merantau, I took notice of rising star Iko Uwais. His use of Indonesian martial art "Pencak Silat" reminded me an awful lot of Muay Thai and got me dreaming of an eventual cross-over film with Tony Jaa. Not long after that, I watched Man of Tai Chi and realized that Tiger Chen was a total badass. I wondered if he would ever go on to star in bigger things (instead of being Keanu Reeves' stunt double).

I first learned of Triple Threat around a year ago and I've been eager to see the final thing. It doesn't look like an especially challenging movie, but the pedigree of its stars leads me to believe someone got stupidly injured during the filming process. I prefer when stunts in action movies have actual stakes instead of using CGI actors and Tony Jaa's stunt team rivals Jackie Chan's for the number of recorded injuries.

Here's hoping the film can live up to my lofty expectations.
