Tron: Legacy gets some help from Pixar

0

With just over two weeks to go before its release, Tron: Legacy is practically finished, and its cast and crew are fulfilling their requisite press obligations. In an interview with New York Magazine’s Vulture blog, the film’s director Joseph Kosinski lends some insight into the film’s production process.

First, some (arguably) bad news: Kosinski seems to be very candid about the slight Uncanny Valley quality of the film’s younger, CGI Jeff Bridges. He admitted as much, saying, “I feel like Clu, I don’t think he’s at 100 percent in 100 percent of the shots.” A bit unfortunate, but apparently it’s less noticable once the film transitions to the more fantastical digital environment.

Kosinski also spoke about consulting Pixar about the film: “We went up there for a day, showed it to their key people, had a nice two-hour roundtable where we told them what we wanted to improve, and they had some suggestions. Little nips, tucks, tweaks.” According to him, the changes amounted to only a couple minutes of alteration in the film, but if it was Pixar doing the advising, I’m all for it.
