In the coming year both the Harry Potter films and the Twilight films are going to conclude and then Hollywood won’t have anymore books that people have actually read to adapt into movies. It’s an issue so they’re searching for the next big book series to bring to film constantly. One stab at this is The Maze Runner, which Catherine Hardwicke has just been announced as in negotiations to direct.
Hardwicke is the director behind Twilight so we know she can turn a book into a movie and make a lot of money off of it even if the movie is mediocre at best. The story does sound a bit more intriguing than a vampire/werewolf/annoying girl love triangle. It’s about a boy named Thomas who wakes up with no memory and finds himself surrounded by other young boys in an ever changing maze that requires them to solve its many mysteries to escape. The series is a trilogy so if this hits expect more.
