If you’re a white dude with social problems, I hate to tell you this, but you’re probably going to kill someone. Sorry, I don’t make the rules. I just watch movies and then tell you what they tell me the rules are. The Night Clerk is just the latest film to reinforce this lesson. If someone doesn’t know how to comport themselves with others, then you’d best run the hell away fast enough to make little tornadoes with your legs before you end up on their trophy shelf. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Now, there’s a chance that Tye Sheridan (playing our central hotel clerk with a personality disorder) didn’t kill someone, but given that the trailer ends with everyone gasping and asking, “What did you do?!” it would be super weird if it turned out all he did was poop his pants or something.
This does look tense and intriguing, though, a very performance-driven thriller. With John Leguizamo, Ama de Armas, and Helen Hunt starring alongside Sheridan, I think The Night Clerk has a great chance of succeeding.
The Night Clerk is due to check into theaters and VOD on February 21, 2020.
