The Uncharted movie project has gone through many iterations, each seeming as unlikely as the last. But the current director attached to the film, family movie director and Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy, seems quite confident that the video game adaptation will finally happen.
Speaking to The Playlist about Stranger Things season 3, Levy offered an update on the progress for Uncharted.
I mean, as of right now, the closest to the starting line is “Uncharted” in that it’s a massive title. We now have a very good script and we have our star in Tom Holland. That is now subject to schedule and additional casting. But I would say as of right now, that seems to be the most near horizon. And it’s a movie I’m very excited about.
The current version of the project is due to have Spider-Man: Homecoming star and guy who doesn’t feel good, Mr. Stark Tom Holland as a younger Nathan Drake. But to the disappointment of many, myself included, we’ll never see the Nathan Fillion fan filmmaterialize as anything more than what we already have.
There are still no dates for a start to production or for release, so despite Levy’s optimism, this could all go south, like, two days from now. What a world we live in, for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie to be closer to reality than an Uncharted film.
