On Friday, Universal announced a number of high-profile release dates from now until 2013. For simplicity’s sake, here’s a list:
- Larry Crown, a comedy directed by and starring Tom Hanks: July 1, 2011
- Safe House, a thriller about a C.I.A. agent that escorts a dangerous criminal to a government safe house starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds: February 10, 2012
- Contraband, a remake of the Icelandic thriller Reykjavik-Rotterdam starring Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale: March 16, 2012
- Judd Apatow’s next project, which is untitled: June 1, 2012
- The Bourne Legacy, the first Damon-less Bourne film directed by Tony Gilroy: August 3, 2012
- Ouija, the movie penned by the Tron: Legacy guys about a Ouija board that is somehow magical or something: November 9, 2012
- 47 Ronin, a remake of a 1941 Japanese film about a group of samurai avenging their master’s death starring Keanu Reeves: November 21, 2012
- Snow White and the Huntsman, a more action-adventure-y take on the old fable: Devember 21, 2012
- The Dark Tower, the beginning of the epic film/television adaptation of Stephen King’s multiverse-spanning series: May 17, 2013

I gotta say, this is a pretty strong lineup. A new Bourne, new Apatow, and the launch of a possibly huge fantasy franchise. Universal might be giving us some amazing stuff in the next three years. Also, I am amazed that Ouija was not something I made up in a dream. So what do you guys think? Boffo or…uh…bomb-o?
