Since the first Kick-Ass was good enough to warrant a sequel, and since there’s a new version of the comic named Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, production is finally moving forward on the film toward casting. According to reports from Deadline, Universal is very interested in getting Jim Carrey to play a wacky supporting character named Colonel Stars who is apparently the one who forms a makeshift Justice League comprised of the new superheros who cropped up due to Kick-Ass’s influence. I haven’t read past the first issue of the new Kick-Ass, so I’m only assuming Colonel is wacky because they want Jim Carrey.
I’m not used to seeing Jim Carrey as a serous actor (why is also why I never saw The Number 23), so I’m sure if Jim Carrey ends up in the role, the whole thing is going to be awkward to watch. Universal’s proposed character’s bio sounds nothing like the Jim Carrey I know.
I don’t know. I guess I just haven’t forgotten the last time Carrey tried taking part in a comic book flick.
