You guys and gals in LA are in for a treat. Clint Mansell is playing two intimate live shows in April at the Largo. The shows coincide with the release of his score for the film Last Night by Massy Tadjedin. Tickets are currently available on the Largo website. The shows are on Wednesday, April 4th and Thursday, April 5th.
Mansell will be accompanied by the Sonus Quartet, with whom he played a live show in London back in 2009. While the two Largo shows will spotlight the score from Last Night, Mansell will likely play selections from his scores for Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Moon, The Fountain, The Wrestler, and Pi.
On the note of film scores, I should add that the Largo regularly plays host to Jon Brion, who did the music for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I Heart Huckabees, and Synecdoche, New York among others. (He’s also worked with Kanye West, Spoon, Elliott Smith, and Aimee Mann. His solo album Meaningless ain’t too shabby either.) Brion’s live shows were a staple at the original Largo location.
