WandaVision will be six hours long and feature 1950s hijinx, according to Elizabeth Olsen

Put on your WandaVision glasses now

On the purple carpet for the premiere of independent darling Avengers: Endgame, actress Elizabeth Olsen gave a couple of key details for one of the many MCU shows coming to streaming service Disney+. Olsen and Paul Bettany will portray Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision, two characters who are very much alive, in a show seriously called Marvel Studios' WandaVision, which will apparently be a six-hour long series.

Marvel Studios is notorious for being secretive, having to wrangle their own talent to keep any secrets from spilling. Whether Olsen was allowed to disclose this information or not is unknown, telling Variety on the purple carpet:

"There’s quite a few other comic books that we’re pulling from and it’s going to be Wanda and the Vision, and I think at the Disney+ launch chat, they showed a photo of us in the '50s."

I have scoured the internet for nearly two whole minutes, and I could find no such picture—either this was a closed doors thing, or Olsen let something slip.

It makes little sense for Wanda and Vision, both alive and well, to be in the 1950s, so what could be going on here? Comic book aficionados more knowledgable about the source material than I am may point to comic storylines like "House of M," which has Scarlet Witch affecting the very fabric of reality. Hence, time nonsense that would make for some fun visual variety in this show.

We already know that a Loki series is due for Disney+, along with an officially confirmed The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and a reported Hawkeye series. The plan here seems to be to have a series for many of the supporting characters, but more like a number of short miniseries rather than ongoing seven-season affairs. If we have a show with a premise of Wanda and Vision being domestic and lovey-dovey and whatnot (while also being totally alive), a miniseries with some fun period visuals might be the best way to go.

Now go see Avengers: Endgame this weekend, why don't ya—just be sure to check out our review first.
