Warner Bros., in a desperate bid to catch up with Marvel, is being crazy aggressive with its release schedule over the next few years. While we’re pretty sure there will be more Bats, Superman and Wonder Woman we didn’t know all of the films coming. It appears Aquaman is one of them as the studio has commissioned two screenplays to be written.
Why two? Chances are better that one of them will turn Aquaman into an interesting character people want to see a movie about. He’s an easy target, but even with Jason Momoa playing him it’s hard to get that excited.
Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire) are both taking a crack at the story on their own. This is a pretty common practice these days as studios schedule movie releases before the screenplay is even done and having two increases the chances of one not sucking.
