Hardcore Henry is now out in theaters, a live-action blood-drenched movie done in the style of an FPS game. In case you were wondering how the action unfolds in a given scene (hint: it’s violent!), STX Entertainment put out a clip from the movie. Here’s a kooky, dizzying FPS car chase for y’alls. (NSFW because this clip contains violence!)

If you’re wondering how they did all that violence, there’s a behind-the-scenes music video for Hardcore Henry. The song is called “For the Kill” and it’s by the band Biting Elbows. (NSFW because this clip contains violence and brief nudity!)

Call me a stick in the mud, but I was more interested in the behind-the-scenes aspects of Hardcore Henry rather than the Hardcore Henry clip itself. From a purely technical standpoint it’s impressive what they did with the physical stuntwork and the riggings to pull it off. Orchestrating action sequences is an art, and just pulling that camera back to witness the stunt performers doing their thing made me appreciate what they accomplished beyond the FPS gimmick.
Then again, violence!
