Dre and I loved Chronicle. I’d say it ranks in my top ten best superhero movies of all time, truth be told. The flying sequences are among some of the most breathtaking and exhilarating in the film, filling you with a sense of awe and wonder that rather delightfully sets you up to get knocked down for the inevitable dark turn the film takes in the third act. This short featurette from The Daily shows how those sequences were made, utilizing motion mapping, green screen, and some rather unique flying harnesses that look almost custom-built for the film, as I’ve certainly never seen that kind of harness before.
I’d imagine this will find its way onto the upcoming home media release of Chronicle, which is set at May 15th.
