Earlier in the year we mentioned there’d be a CGI Final Fantasy XV movie as well as other spin-offs set in the world of the game. Now just two months before Final Fantasy XV‘s release, we have a full trailer for one of these tie-ins. This one actually showcases the voice acting talent of Aaron Paul, Lena Headey, and Sean Bean, unlike the previous teaser trailer.
Give the Kingsglaive trailer a watch below.
Sean Bean’s character is totally dead because it’s a Sean Bean character. I know that Tom Cruise is a much more bankable name, but I always wished Sean Bean was the lead in Edge of Tomorrow just for the in-joke.
Oh yeah, Final Fantasy XV. This looks all right. Couldn’t be any worse than Advent Children, amiright? (Come at me, jabroni.)
Here’s an official synopsis for Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV:
The magical kingdom of Lucis is home to the sacred Crystal, and the menacing empire of Niflheim is determined to steal it. King Regis of Lucis (Sean Bean) commands an elite force of soldiers called the Kingsglaive. Wielding their king’s magic, Nyx (Aaron Paul) and his fellow soldiers fight to protect Lucis. As the overwhelming military might of the empire bears down, King Regis is faced with an impossible ultimatum – to marry his son, Prince Noctis to Princess Lunafreya of Tenebrae (Lena Headey), captive of Niflheim, and surrender his lands to the empire’s rule. Although the king concedes, it becomes clear that the empire will stop at nothing to achieve their devious goals, with only the Kingsglaive standing between them and world domination.
Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV will hit theaters in select cities on August 19th. The film will then be available on VOD August 30th, with a Blu-ray and DVD release following on October 4th. A Kingsglaive Blu-ray will come with the Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy XV, which hits shelves September 30th.
