After years in production hell (and a successful Broadway stage show), Paul Reuben’s manic manchild Pee-wee Herman is back again an all new adventure thanks to Netflix.
And it looks sort of like Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. Go figure.
Here’s the official trailer for Pee-wee’s Big Holiday.
Finally a trailer that doesn’t end with a sinister cover of a familiar song. Also, I support all references to Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
Just from the look and feel of the trailer, Pee-wee’s Big Holiday might not hit the same manic heights as Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, which just goes to show what a young Tim Burton and Danny Elfman can do. Big Holiday‘s directed by John Lee, whose got a couple of television directing credits under his belt, including Broad City, Inside Amy Schumer, and Xavier: Renegade Angel. If anything, Reubens and co-writer Paul Rust will probably deliver solid gags and goofiness.
Pee-wee’s Big Holiday hits Netflix on March 18th. As Angie Han at /Film notes, that’s the same day that season 2 of Daredevil comes out–both Matt Murdock and Pee-wee Herman are men without fear.
