I had successfully forgotten that a live-action/animation hybrid Tom and Jerry film was in the works, so this latest news sent a shiver down my spine. For one reason or another, Warner Bros. has bumped up the release date for its ungodly remake by four months. Originally planned for an April 16, 2021 release, the cat and mouse will now be gracing theaters around the nation on Deceber 23, 2020. In place of the original date will be an as of yet untitled “event” film.
In addition to Tom and Jerry getting a bump, fantasy adventure movie The Witches will also be hitting theaters sooner. A remake of a Roald Dahl novel (and its 1990 film adaptation), the film is now scheduled for October 9, 2020. I guess progress on both projects really hit its stride over the last year.
