While Warner Bros and DC throw all of their muscle behind Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, David Ayer’s Suicide Squad (the story of a team of villains who’re being forced to work for the government) could be the sleeper hit that really puts them on the map. Continuing the trend of casting big name, left field actors for their comic book films, we’ve got some interesting additions:
Jared Leto – The Joker
Will Smith – Deadshot
Tom Hardy – Rick Flag
Margot Robbie – Harley Quinn
Jai Courtney – Captain Boomerang
Cara Delevingne – Enchantress
Jared Leto is next in line to take on the Joker, Will Smith is here for some reason (probably because he could get jiggy with that money), Tom Hardy is in every DC comic movie, and Jai Courtney must be here because, well, boomerangs are native to Australia. What do you think? I’m certainly going to pay more attention to this now. WB also has the gall to hope Oprah Winfrey will play Amanda Waller. Now that’s hutzpah. Suicide Squad begins shooting next April in Toronto and opens April 6, 2016.
