Well, it’s been an interesting journey for the infamous Snyder Cut, but now we have an official trailer for the curiously-awaited redux of 2017’s Justice League, officially titled Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Set to hit HBO Max on March 18th, Snyder’s updated release features iconic DC ultrabad Darkseid (Ray Porter)–as in, not the light side of the Force–as the grand master behind the schemes of original League villain Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) as they hound after the paradigm-shifting Mother Boxes scattered across the Earth for their decidedly-evil plans. With names like that, these guys were never cut out for charity work.
The trailer for Snyder’s new cut has the League is assembled, with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher, Jason Momoa, and Ezra Miller reprising their spandexed roles. Following a lengthy debate with Warner Bros. over allegations of mistreatment on Joss Whedon’s set during the original filming, it’s good to see Fisher champion the upcoming release.
Also popping up is Jared Leto’s Joker, who was last seen massacring David Ayer’s already-massacred Suicide Squad. With changes made to the appearance of Leto’s Joker, the hope would seem to be a reworking of the character. Good luck with that. Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke is also set to appear, because clearly what Justice League needed was more villains to punch.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is reported to clock in at around four hours in length, according to its IMDb page, where it’s also currently listed as a single feature film, as opposed to a fragmented miniseries, as was at one point the intention. With March 18 just about a month away, it’s nearly time to lay the Snyder Cut drama to rest. Let’s hope it was worth all the blood, sweat, and reshoots when Zack Snyder’s Justice League streams exclusively on HBO Max.
