By So, Will Smith, star of the Men in Black franchise will not be contributing the theme song this time ’round. Instead, it will go to Pitbull.
This has broken my heart. I’ve said on numerous occasions that the part I was most excited about with MIB3 was the sweet theme song Big Willy would contribute. Ugh.
Pitbull had the following to say: “It’s an incredible honor to be a part of such an amazing franchise as Men in Black and I have so much respect for Will Smith, especially with our similar musical backgrounds…wanting to keep the music fun yet modern, we used the slogan of the movie and flipped it back into the song that ‘in order to understand the future, you have to go back in time.'” At least he’s enthusiastic.
The song, aptly titled ‘Back in Time,’ hits later this week (March 26th to be exact,) two months before the May 25th release of the film. Will it be good? Probably. Will it compare to ‘Here Come the Men in Black’ or ‘Nod Ya Head?’ Heck no.
I guess we’ll find out in a few days. Fingers crossed.
