By It looks like the Fresh Prince might be returning to the airwaves. Some recent stories are reporting that Will Smith is set to produce a spinoff series of his popular 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Being produced by his company, Westbrook, this new show may possibly take the form of a sequel or focus on other members of the Banks family.
Details are very thin, but Smith is seeing a kind of creative rebirth as of late. With his box-office breaking turn in Aladdin and the fervor surrounding Gemini Man, Smith seems to be recapturing the buzz that propelled him through the 90s. Whether he’ll star in this new series remains to be seen, but I’d imagine he’ll make guest appearances while allowing other cast members to take the spotlight.
I don’t know that The Fresh Prince needs a return, but I’ll reserve judgment for whenever the project arrives.
