I’d almost forgotten that, following the success of Zack Snyder’s adaptation of Frank Miller’s 300, someone had commissioned a prequel all about 300 villain Xerxes, he of the many piercings and the intense baritone. Now, the film has two top contenders for the director’s seat and a new title. The two directorial candidates are Noam Murro, director of Smart People and rumored director of the further rumored Die Hard 5, and Jaume Collet-Serra, director of Unknown and Secret Dwarf Hooker, a.k.a. Orphan. As for that pesky title business, the film is now being called 300: Battle of Artemesia, presumably for the mouth breathers that won’t get it’s about the same character as in 300, the same mouth breathers that gave the crappy Wolverine movie a needlessly long title. Or maybe this one is also set around a group of three-hundred-odd warriors doing something or other.
With a script by Zack “Wimmen Hatin’” Snyder, I can’t be interested in this in the slightest. Did anyone, other than Frank Miller and some other dudes that need a payday, think we really needed to revisit the villains of 300?
