You can preorder your Assassin’s Creed movie ticket for $1200

If you’re familiar with the Assassin’s Creed videogames, then the notion of preorder bonuses or super expensive special editions is nothing new to you. While theater chains have folks preorder tickets all the time, what 20th Century Fox, Ubisoft, and Michael Fassbender are doing with the Assassin’s Creed film is a bit fishy.

In a partnership with Kernel, you could preorder ticket bundles ranging anywhere from $15 to $1200. What does pre-ordering get you? Along with a ticket and a copy of the script (which is admittedly kind of neat):

  • $15 – “Collector’s” watch and Aguilar and Maria temporary tattoos
  • $25 –  T-shirt
  • $60 – McFarlane Toys’ Aguilar Hidden Blade
  • $120 – Assassin’s Creed Hoodie
  • $600 – Premium Scale Aguilar Figure to make out with
  • $1200 – An actual f**king crossbow

While I don’t expect anyone to fork over $60-1200 for a movie we haven’t seen a second of (this isn’t the videogame industry, you know), the fact that someone can is absolutely asinine. I guess this should inspire confidence since Fox is making this part of a huge rollout, but this is just odd. Asking for so much money for something we’ve haven’t even gotten a teaser trailer for (even after it’s wrapped filming some time ago) is the wrong kind of ballsy.

Oh yeah, you’re only getting a single ticket with each of the more expensive bundles. Tell me how that makes sense.

Hopefully we’ll get some footage soon. Anyone getting a crossbow? Assassin’s Creed trust falls into theaters December 21st.
